Light Sentence

The installation is animated by the play of light and shadows generated by the gradual ascent and descent of a light bulb. The shadows projected on the surrounding walls and ceiling create architectural shapes that engulf - and imprison - the viewer. The title of the work is a play on words, for in "Light Sentence" justice is carried out by light - in a weightless manner. The confining structure projected on the walls reaches menacing proportions for only a few minutes when the bulb is closest to the floor. Once the bulb commences its ascent, the threat is lifted and the shadows give way to light.
