Incomplete Neon Square for La Jolla Stephen Antonakos used neon tubes and painted metal to create this site-specific installation piece. Although the sculpture may appear austere during the day, once dusk arrives the neon becomes lively and illuminated, giving the front of the museum glowing originality. Antonakos is a Grecian artist widely known for his use of light. Using minimalist techniques, he was one of the first contemporary artists to incorporate neon into the world of art. During his life, Antonakos made a lasting impact on how urban environments experienced neon lights, as many of his installations are permanent and site-specific.
